Louis Weston is a Barrister and heads up Outer Temple Chambers’ Sports Law team. He has specialised in Sports Law for over 15 years, with his practice focusing on Sports Regulation, Governance, Disciplinary Cases, Safeguarding and Anti-Doping. He is ranked as a leading junior in Chambers and Partners, WWL and Legal 500 UK.
Louis has appeared in many leading cases in the UK involving corruption in sport and has acted for and advised national and international sports regulatory bodies in the UK, Ireland, the Middle East and Asia across a range of sports including Horseracing, Football, Snooker, Badminton, Rugby, Darts, Cricket, Golf, Gymnastics, and Greyhound Racing. He has represented governing bodies and athletes both before Disciplinary Tribunals in the UK, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and the Far East, the CAS and the Courts (High Court and Court of Appeal).
Louis is a member of the WADA Independent Ethics Board, the English FA’s Judicial Panel and Anti-Discrimination Panel, the IBA’s dispute resolution chamber, British Gymnastics’ Independent Case Panel and Sports Resolutions and Sport Disputes Ireland’s arbitral panel and its pro-bono group. He sits an arbitrator in Rule K Arbitrations and panellist for a range of sports. He and was the lead writer of the UNODC and IOC publications A Guide to the Prosecution of Competition Manipulation and Guide to the Prosecution of Bribery in Sport and the Sport Chapter in Lissack & Horlick on Bribery and Corruption.
