The Directors of the British Association for Sport and Law are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Maurice Watkins CBE. Maurice was President of BASL until 2021, having previously served as Chair.
The Chair of BASL, Catherine Beloff, said: “Maurice was one of the founder members of the British Association for Sport and Law and served on its Board for 18 years. He was a hugely admired and respected solicitor who inspired generations of sports lawyers. BASL owes Maurice an enormous debt of gratitude for his leadership, wise counsel and championing of our aims across nearly two decades. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.”
